Without Anesthesia

This series pays homage to the slave women who were brutally subjected to torture by Dr. Marion Sims, the founder of gynecology. By saying their names, I aim to give voice to their suffering and acknowledge the horrific treatment they endured. The artwork also feature quotes from Dr. Sims' medical diary, illuminating his conscious awareness of the pain he was inflicting on these women and adding a haunting layer to their story.
